Field Trip Information
Petroglyphs of Sears Point, Arizona
Saturday, February 18, 2023
MEETING TIME: Saturday, February 18, 2023, 8:30 a.m. (Arizona time) at the Sears Point petroglyph site, but participants may wish to assemble with the trip leaders at 8:00 a.m. at the Spot Road exit on Interstate 8, approximately 78 miles east of Yuma, Arizona (measured from the state line). The assembly point is at the frontage road on the north side of the freeway, but the official starting point of the field trip is at the site. A download link for the map and directions to the petroglyph site will be provided to participants prior to the trip. Note that you will lose one hour due to the time change entering Arizona.
ELIGIBILITY: SDRAA Members in good standing as of February 15, 2023. This field trip is limited to members ONLY, no guests or additional family members allowed. Pets are not allowed. Your membership status will be checked upon receipt of your registration.
TRIP LIMIT: 15 persons.

2023 SDRAA FIELD TRIP REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

CANCELLATIONS: If you are registered but find you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we may offer your space to another participant.
DETAILS: Field trip participants will visit the main petroglyph locality at Sear
Point. Ken Hedges will share his knowledge of the Sears Point petroglyph style. Detailed
directions to the site will be provided. Participants will drive to the site on dirt

WHERE TO STAY: The nearest places to stay are Yuma, in Wellton 30 miles east of Yuma,
and in Gila Bend 38 miles beyond Spot Road on Interstate 8. Information on lodging
and camping will be included in the field trip information. NOTE: Sears Point is
a low desert area. Each participant should bring an adequate water supply, food for
lunch, and sun protection for short walks and outdoor discussions. Be aware that
there are rattlesnakes in the area. Current long-
NOTE: The trip is subject to cancellation if there is a 50% or greater prediction
of rain 2 days before the trip. Registration is via our online registration form,
and participants will receive field trip details and notifications via a download
link in your confirmation email. In the event of rain cancellation, participants
will be notified by email, so check your e-
